was a story of a man who killed a great creature that killed many a man. He over came a lot of hardships that even the best man couldn't. Grendel was a monster who's father was Kan the son of Adam and Eve. After Kan was marked by "the mark of murder" he ran off to the land of monsters and meet Grendel's mother. They had Grendel who put the town of Anglo-Saxon in ruins, and put the people in terror. Beowulf hired of the problem that they weir having and come to the Danes and fought for the people of the land. He didn't kill the monster at first, he just took his arm to let him know that Beowulf was the man not Grendel.
"The evil creature, grim and hungry, grabbed thirty warrior sand went home laughing".
After that the town was good for a while until Grendel's mother came to get back at them for what they did to her son but she really didn't even put up a fight with Beowulf. She ran back to the land of the monsters and Beowulf followed after her and kill Grendel and his mother. The town once again flowered Beowulf with parties and gifts of the finest for if heroism.
"Grendel's mother got inside: the terror was less by just so much as is the strength of a woman, the war-horror of a woman,is less than the horror of a sword forged with hammer and stained in blood shearing the strong edges of the boar on a helmet".
In my opinion this part of the story was the down point of the whole thing. Their was allot of talking but no action only suspense. I no this is a old story but i believe that it should have been a bit more faster to the fighting sequence and a little lighter on the nobble man act. I'm not trying to tell you your taste is bad in books if you read this short story but the version i read was the bad version. The poems sound good but it was a little to much to read and try to keep up with the story line to. But at least the rest of the story gets better.
Time past and Beowulf got old but not before he protected more people from evil thing and became king. But like it always does a good thing came to a end. In his final days Beowulf hired of a three headed dragon that spit fire. Beowulf and others gathered together to fight the dragon. The dragon was made because some one had stolen a gold cup and the monster went on a killing spree. Beowulf ended up dieing by the creator, who bit his neck. Beowulf's friend killed the dragon. After words they had a big funeral on behalf of Beowulf. They set his body on fire to because that was their belief.
"Dear Beowulf, may you accomplish all well,as you did in youth,as I have heard tell.Don't surrender the glory of your life. Defend now, with all your strength, your brave deeds.I will help."
The ending is the best because the hero dies. That means he made sacrifice for ever one just to see no one else got hurt by the dragon. I think the death of Beowulf just added on to his greatness. I say that because what is the best way to go out? In battle. That means he died to make everything right in other peoples lives. If he would have live it would have been like he was a god or something but i think the Arther was making a point to show that even though i am human doesn't mean i can't over come heaven or hell.
Thinking back on the story, they could have done a lot more for the person who save them so many times from all those terrible creators. but then again it Was probably the way Beowulf would have wanted it. I bet he wouldn't have wanted them to have done anything because he want to be remembered for what he did for them not what they can give him after he died.
